Yes, plz.

Offer it to the public, too. A proper off-road Colly with (fill in minutes)electric power would be even better than a diesel.

I don’t understand what’s up with fuel cells.

10 years ago GM had a bunch of concept ones, including the Equinox.

Then it all disappeared and in the last year people have gotten tons of attention for coming out with concepts again.

wtf?

As much as I think hydrogen is cool, I can’t get behind it as much as I can a straight-up electric vehicle.

From an efficiency standpoint, it will always be less efficient than using the electricity directly. It also requires some crazy high pressure tanks that, from what I’ve seen so far, are only guaranteed for 10 years because of problems like hydrogen embrittlement. From an environmental standpoint, most, if not all of the hydrogen available at the pumps right now is produced from hydrocarbons. From an economic standpoint, it’s way more expensive than gas or electricity, and probably always will be, at least until some massive economies of scale kick in.

This isn’t GM’s first foray into hydrogen fuel cell trucks, either. I remember them doing an S-10 years ago: http://electrifyingtimes.com/GM-S10-H2O.htm… (Can’t find the better popular science article from a decade or more ago, which is where I first heard about it).

EDIT: How about a plug-in hybrid pickup truck? Best of both worlds: low-end torque, great in-city shorter range fuel economy, and long highway range when running on gas. I wonder how hard it’d be to stuff a Volt powertrain into a Colorado...

Very interesting. I hope the Army can figure out a way to make tanks and bradleys (my “company” car) more efficient. Not so much for emissions but supply lines.

I’ve been clamoring for an electric pickup for a while.

Torque, batteries over the rear...it’d be awesome.

Like this?

But I was thinking without batteries. Pure Fuel Cell power.

Oh sweet baby Jesus!

I haven’t been too gung-ho about fuel cells...particularly because my electric truck idea has been in my head longer than the hydrogen tech has been feasible.
